About the Role
Fantastic opportunity for an accomplished General Manager / Director of Nursing to take full leadership responsibility for a high-performing private hospital delivering surgical and short-stay services.
This role combines clinical leadership with commercial and operational accountability, requiring a leader who can balance patient safety and quality with business performance and workforce engagement. Reporting to the Operations Director, you will have autonomy to shape culture, drive performance, and lead the hospital through its next phase of growth and maturity.
This position suits a confident, hands-on healthcare executive who thrives in environments where leadership visibility, sound judgement, and decisive action are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the hospital’s overall performance across clinical care, operations, workforce, and financial outcomes
- Establish and maintain a strong culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Ensure consistently high standards of patient care, experience, and clinical outcomes
- Provide clear leadership to nursing, clinical, and non-clinical teams, supporting capability and engagement
- Manage operational and financial performance, including budgets, forecasting, and resource allocation
- Build trusted, collaborative relationships with medical specialists and key partners
- Oversee clinical governance, risk management, and compliance with national standards and legislation
- Drive quality improvement, infection prevention, and patient safety initiatives
- Identify opportunities to enhance service delivery, efficiency, and growth in activity
- Contribute to broader organisational initiatives and leadership forums
About You
- Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration
- Demonstrated experience in senior hospital leadership (General Manager, Director of Nursing, ADON, or similar)
- Strong understanding of hospital operations and performance management
- Proven ability to lead accreditation, governance, and quality systems
- Commercially astute, with experience managing budgets and operational outcomes
- An engaging, credible leader who builds trust across clinical and medical teams
- Decisive, resilient, and solutions-focused in complex environments
- Exposure to perioperative services is advantageous but not essential
- Postgraduate qualifications in health administration, leadership, or management are desirable
